Architect

Tim Wilson: Tim Wilson is the founder and principal architect of Momentum Architecture (1995), in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Among his many projects, Tim has designed executive homes and commercial facilities, retirement homes and restorations. He has a BA in Architecture from Montana State University.

"I believe this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me as an architect because it's so different," Tim said. "It's a type of project that has a real purpose...Hopefully we'll be working with the Abbey community for a long time."

General Contractor

Thomas Orjala: President of NorthIda homes, Thomas brings 30 years of experience and specializes in the construction of custom homes. He has lived in North Idaho for 30 years and understands the unique challenges of the area's climate.

Building Project Managers

Pat and Jo Simpson are neighbors and major donors of Sravasti Abbey.

Pat Simpson: With experience in construction, real estate management, and management consulting, Pat will supervise the construction of Gotami House. Pat's background includes twenty-one years in the Marines (Lt. Colonel), a BS in Economics, an MS in International relations, and an MBA in management.

Jo Simpson: Jo adds her experience as a comptroller and in organizational management to the project. With an MS in Computer Information Systems, she has also worked as a Management Consultant.

" We have been inspired by Venerable Chodron's teachings and the Abbey's quiet but effective promotion of love, compassion, and joy in the local community and through the world," Pat and Jo explained. "We look forward to a long and beneficial association with Sravasti Abbey and Sangha."

Sravasti Abbey Resident Liaison

Venerable Thubten Tarpa: A former physical therapist, Ven. Tarpa is the first person to take ordination at Sravasti Abbey. She is eagerly involved in creating facilities for the Abbey that are effective, efficient, and ecologically sound as well as in line with the monastic tradition. She is diligently researching green building and other facets of the project.



Kitchen Remodel

Thubten Jampel: Jampel began working with his father, a contractor, as a teenager and trained as his assistant on a variety of building projects. He brings his experience as a maintenance supervisor to care for the Abbey buildings, equipment, and appliances. Jampel is a community resident, training for ordination. With the kitchen remodel under his belt (completed with help from his father and a cadre of volunteers), Jampel is now project manager for the retreat cabin.
